feathers

the other day we thought we would have a little fun with feathers and make a lovely textural wreath for violet's room :)

so my little helper and i set out to get the job done...

here is what we used... small wreath form from michaels, 3 bags of white feathers from walmart, tacky glue, and (not shown) a glue gun... the marshmellows for good measure (and that is mainly where violet's attention was :)

so, it's easy... just glue directly onto the plastic cover of the wreath form... around and around and around. i tried to put longer feathers around once to have an even circle... then i filled in with the smaller ones

the more feathers the better!! ...and as you go around start to angle them in to create dimension.

this is a close up of the center... not the best picture, but shows you how i went back and angled the center feathers to cover up all the yucky bottom ends of the feathers

and then finally (and it's hard to see from this picture) i hot glued feathers around the outside edge and that was super quick.
on a side note... i didn't use hot glue for the main part because i was working on it with violet, but next time if i don't have small fingers around i will hot glue everything to save time. and if you try it you could use any type of feather :)

this was fun and easy! and the best part is it only cost me $7... me gusta :)
