happy 1st birthday WESTON!!!

Get ready this is a long one, but we had a big day this weekend :)
Weston turned one on Saturday!! Happy Birthday to my little boy! What a complete joy this past year has been and what a fun day it was! We had a sock monkey themed party because has loved snuggling his this whole this past year :) It was so much fun planning for it and it turns out that I'm not the first to choose this theme, so there was lots of fun stuff out there to choose from :)

The banner and invites were printables from chickabug

I put these hats together using a tutorial from a favorite blog of mine Jones Design Company

Weston's sock monkey cake was done by my favorite Sweet Art Bakery and was yummmmy as usual. We also made homemade vanilla ice cream to go with it :)

I had fun setting out the food and making the little stamped cards

and no birthday party is complete without a pinata... this is the first one we have ever gotten for our kids and it was fun!! it was a pull string one for the little kids... maybe in a few years we will break one open the traditional way :)

We were so happy Nonny & Pops could make the trip up for the party!! Love yall!

Love these girls together! Such great friends :)

Okay, time for the man of the hour to wake up and party!!!

Surprise! A clown to twist up some balloons for the kids!! Weston was so interested in this strange looking person and paid attention so well! :)

My fun friend from high school, Tiffany, and her sweet little guy Jackson

She sang "twinkle, twinkle" for him and he was so happy!

puppets!!

My sweet friend, Elizabeth with one of our youngest guests :)

love being with my mom and my kids!!

Carter's best friend, Andy, and his little girl Penny

Our friends Will and his younger brother Ryan showed up too :)

All the kids really warmed up to Poppins the clown, even making song requests :)

Carter's friend Richard brought sweet baby Aubree and she tried out the swing for the first time!!

Pops with Violet eating some lunch

Smash cake time for Weston!!

He loved the Happy Birthday song... probably because Violet had been singing it to him every day for the whole past week :)

Smash he did!!

This little guy had icing EV.ERY.WHERE!! All over his face, hair, the balloons around him, his hat- it was so fun!! He mixed it all up to make purple :) Some made it into his mouth but mostly he just had fun making a mess!

Notice the red icing in his hair that wouldn't come out until bath later that night

Our friend Miss Ava taking a turn swinging - What a sweetheart :)

Pinata time- each kid grabbed a string and pulled! Weston mainly watched from my hip.

Later on we went back out to inspect the pinata again. I love the way Weston uses his pointer finger to learn about things right now- so cute!

And then Sunday at lunch before Nonny & Pops had to take off. Thank you guys so much for coming and making this weekend so special!!

Some great things about Weston at one year...
-he scoots himself all around and can get back into a sitting position
-he loves to pull up in his crib, but has a hard time letting go to sit back down
-he claps when he is excited
-he has started waving
-he says "da-da" very loud!!
-he loves music and bounces up and down to it
-he loves "playing" his little piano, as well as all his other instruments
-he is very good at sharing with his sister
-he is doing great eating soft solid foods
-he is so patient... he waits for his food, sits through ballet class, and puts up with going in and out of violet's preschool

What a blessing from above! Weston, you are a treasure and you make our lives so sweet. It's a joy to be your mother and spend every day with you! We all love you so very much!! Happy 1st Birthday! xoxo
