We took a road trip out to Santa Fe for spring break and had a great time! We had beautiful crisp, cool weather- we enjoyed being away together, found friendly people, unbelievable cuisine, fun shopping, beautiful sights and lots of unique artwork!! I HEART Santa Fe :) go there, it's infectious.
Here are some of our highlights below...

on our way out we stopped to sleep on the old Route 66 in the little tiny New Mexico town of Tucumcari... and yes, it looked like Radiator Springs :) we slept here and paid $45 for our room!!!! very basic, but it worked from 11pm-8am!!

look at how cute and retro it is :) very well taken care of and the owners checked us in even at 11pm!

fantastic turquoise chair in our room- a quick photo op before a late beddy-bye for the sweetiepies!

with my cakey in the santa fe plaza- which is a park in the center of town with shopping, restaurants and people of all kinds

sweetie boys!

we love you G&G!!

the infamous candy shop- it's like a rite of passage for now 3 generations of family to pick out something here!

here we are at the historic La Fonda hotel where we had a yummy lunch. Grandpa's parents went on their honeymoon here in 1932...and coincidentally Grandma's parents were engaged here in 1944!

street market outside of the Loretto Chapel with all sorts of goodies and jewelry... i picked up a wooden serving tray

the staircase in the chapel... with an interesting legend, true or not, it's beautiful!

is he not just the cutest little guy you have ever seen!?

family photo on Burro Alley

here is Daddy in the same spot from our trip 5 years ago (almost to the day! ...and I just realized he has the same jacket on! humm, maybe we should replace that one?!)

...and mommy 5 years ago! I just got rid of that jacket in my last closet clean-out... how does time fly by so quickly?!

i love this view of the plaza, that beautiful church and the mountains in the background... breathing in that air was wonderful.

my little music lover with his new indian drum

violet had a TON of fun running around the plaza and onto their stage. she was practicing her heel-step, heel-step from her tap class :)

after almost every meal we enjoyed warm, puffy sopapillas with honey

our sweet Grandma and Grandpa- it was so much fun having yall with us!!

we hung out at one gallery for a while that had rock chairs (actually pretty comfy!) and wind sculptures

i wish i had a good video of these all moving at the same time- they are really cool :)

we found a local park for the kids to play and Wes went down the slide for the first time (with Daddy's help)

and our little man turned 10 months while we were there, so here are his pics with "Sock the Monkey" as Violet calls him

xoxo

you'll notice he's playing more with the monkey in this picture than
last month
and some scenery on our way home...

i just love the adobe houses

...and i just kept clicking away because it's not often that this Texas girl sees full fledged mountains :)

...and of course it's so hard to capture with a camera, but i did my best

our happy little road tripper
Can't wait to go back!!
